I think I’ve got to the point in parenthood where I now actually have got a bit of an idea about what I’m doing (touch wood) so now I have actually get about 30 mins to make myself look human again. For the first month I basically stunk of b.o, had the worlds greasiest hair and was too afraid to wear nice clothes because 1: they still didn’t fit and 2: I was afraid I would bleed on them (I know it isn’t pleasant but that’s the beauty of childbirth people). My skin and hair was also super dry after and I was just generally unhappy with how i looked but you just don’t have the time to do anything about it. If you read my last update on Milo you will know that he now wakes up about 7am for a little nosey and play time then naps from 9.30 ish until 1pm so I take the opportunity to do my hair and make up during this golden time. I thought I would share with you a few of the beauty products I use in a beauty series kind of thing:
I’ll start with the bits and bobs I just picked up from Boots the other day:
Cucumber 3 Minute Clay Mask:
My skin has always tended to break out quite a lot (lucky me)! I like to use a mask once a week (my skin is quite dry in places so I wouldn’t use it anymore) to help clean out my pores. When I didn’t have the time to do this I definitely noticed the difference. I like using clay masks as I really feel like you can see and feel the difference it makes to your skin as soon as you wash it off.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer:
After all those sleepless nights I definitely can’t go anywhere without concealer on now. I’ve heard lots of good things about this one so I thought I would give it a go. I have already tried it once and it creased under my eyes but to be fair I have never found a concealer that doesn’t under my eyes no matter what I do so I think it’s just something I will have to live with!
Rimmel Volume Mascara Flash
I’ve been a bit of a tight arse when it comes to mascara over the past few months but I decided to get one from a brand I had actually heard of this time, it makes such a difference! This one has quite a small wand which does enable you to get a lot of volume which I love. I don’t like clumpy lashes I much prefer a girly long seperated lashes look.
As my face is quite dry I prefer the products I use on my skin to give me a dewy look and this blush is amazing for this kind of look. It sits so nicely on my skin and blends really easily, it’s my new favorite.
Maybeline Brow Mascara
A year ago I never used to do anything with my eyebrows but now I don’t feel fully dressed unless they have been pencilled in. As I’m a bit short on time these days I decide to try this just to give my brows a little extra when I don’t have the time to spend ages filling in and shaping trying to get the my brows to match (which is IMPOSSIBLE).
Maybeline Satin Liquid Foundation
As I’ve already said i like my skin to have a dewy effect so I always choose a liquid foundation. I like to pick one a shade darker than my skin colour and add moisturiser into it just to give it that extra dewiness (if that’s a word?!) and apply with a damp beauty blender. This one isn’t too expensive and gives a really nice finish and it doesn’t dry my skin out as the day goes on which most foundations do.
This is my finished make up look using all these products for the first time:
I’m thinking that in the next post I may do my everyday make up routine video. Let me know if you would be interested in that or if there is anything you would like to see on here!
Much love, Alex x
